Write and ship an ebook

Learning objectives
  • Find an ebook angle narrow enough to finish and broad enough to sell
  • Draft a full manuscript in your own voice without burning out
  • Know which CF tool runs each step, and the one real gap that is left

Step 1 — Title and angle (Spark)

explain

Most ebooks die because the topic is too big. Spark generates a stack of sharp, narrow titles and the angle behind each — 'The 30-day cold-email system' beats 'A guide to email.' Pick the one you could actually deliver in 40 pages.

Try this

Run Spark, choose a title you could finish this month.

Step 2 — Chapter outline (Press)

explain

Press's outline generator turns your topic and angle into a chapter-by-chapter outline — titles, the promise of each, the points inside. An outline you believe in is half the book.

Try this

Build a 6-8 chapter outline in Press. Each chapter = one promise.

Step 3 — Draft the chapters (Press)

explain

This is where Press earns its place. You give it rough notes per chapter; it drafts the prose. You edit, push back, redirect. The point is to never face a blank page, not to hand the book to a machine. Your judgment stays in the loop the whole way, and Press's own editor is where you keep shaping it.

Try this

Draft one full chapter with Press. Edit it until it sounds like you.

Check — who's in the loop?

knowledge check

Press drafts; you steer and edit. The voice and the calls are yours. That is the creator-in-the-loop way CF works — the tool speeds you up, it doesn't replace your judgment.

Check-in question

In your own words: what is Press's job in the draft, and what stays your job?

You'll answer this and the others when you take the knowledge check.

Step 4 — Cover and interior art (bring your own, or build one in Design)

explain

Honest gap, named plainly: Press does not generate cover or interior art. It holds a cover image and inline chapter figures, but you upload them. Build a typographic cover in Design's Graphic mode (bold type, shapes, or a photo you bring yourself — there is no AI photo generation live in CF today), export the PNG, and upload it as your cover in Press.

Try this

Build a cover in Design, export it, and upload it to your Press project.

Step 5 — Layout and PDF (Press)

explain

Press builds and exports a real, book-grade PDF right inside CF — title page, table of contents, chapter openers, running heads, page numbers, and justified type, with your cover and any figures embedded. Export it, open it, and check the pagination looks like a book you'd buy.

Try this

Export your PDF from Press and page through it end to end.

Step 6 — Store and launch (Sell + Pilot + Push)

explain

Send the finished PDF to your store from Press — that creates a real draft product with the file attached, ready to price on Sell. That is how the master file is actually kept; Idea Shield only locks short text notes, not files. For the launch, Pilot plans a sequenced rollout across platforms; Push is what actually auto-posts it on schedule, today to Telegram, Discord, LinkedIn, and Bluesky. Alfred keeps the whole arc consistent with the angle you locked in step 1.

Try this

Send the PDF to your store; let Pilot draft a launch sequence and Push schedule what it can reach.

The shape of it

recap

Spark for the angle, Press for the words and the finished PDF, Design for the cover, Sell for keeping and pricing it, Pilot to plan the launch, Push to ship it — Alfred running the order. One real gap is left: CF doesn't generate cover or interior art, so that stays bring-your-own.

Key takeaways
  • Narrow the angle (Spark) so you can actually finish.
  • Press drafts the manuscript in your voice, outlines the chapters, and exports a real, paginated PDF — you stay creator-in-the-loop the whole way.
  • Cover and interior art is bring-your-own; build a typographic cover in Design and upload it — that is the one honest gap left.
  • Sending the PDF to your store is how it is kept and made sellable; Pilot plans the launch, Push ships it, Alfred runs the order.
